F1 22 DRS: How To Turn On & Use

Published Date :

“It’s lights out and away we go”. Just like the original F1 motorsport, the game F1 22 features all the iconic actions you get in a Grand Prix. This includes things like traction, porpoising, slipstreams, and even DRS. The Drag Reduction System or popularly known as the DRS reduces the downforce and adds an extra 10MPH speed. If you are new to the game and wondering how to activate and use the DRS in F1 22, we have you covered with this guide.

How to Activate & Use DRS in F1 22

F1 22 Activate and Use DRS

Just like the motorsport, you will only be able to activate and use DRS under the rules established by the FIA. That means you will have to be in the DRS zone on the circuit highlighted in green. Along with this, you will have to be within 1 second time gap with the car in front of you to use DRS.

Furthermore, you will still have to wait till lap 3 of the default race length before DRS is Enabled. You will get the notification of the same on top of your screen. Also, note that DRS is not available during rains or wet circuits.

If you fulfill the necessary requirement, here’s how you can activate the DRS:

  • PC players – Press the button F.
  • PS4/PS5 players – Press the button Triangle.
  • Xbox One/Xbox Series X/S players – Press the button Y

Once you press the button specified for the device, the flaps in the rear wing will open and you will be able to add an extra 10MPH to your speed. While that may help you overtake under one DRS zone, you can always use it to close the gap and pounce on the next zone.

Additionally, it is notable that you do not have to activate DRS during time trials, free practices, and qualifying. You do not have to press the button required. Only during the Grand Prix, you will have to press the button.

That’s all you need on how to activate and use DRS in F1 22. While you are here, make sure you check out how to change race length and other F1 22 guides, tips, and tricks with Gamer Tweak.
