    The Best Rust Options Settings

The best setting you should change here is Maximum Gibs. You should set it to 0 for the best performance. If you want better visuals, you can increase this setting.

    Gameplay

    • Compass Visibility: On
    • Streamer Mode: Off
    • Rich Presence: On
    • Field of View: 90.0

    Censorship

    • Hide Signs: Off
    • N*dity: Underwear

    Physics

Maximum Gibs: 0-1000. While you may not realize any performance change when you destroy a small base in Rust, you will definitely feel the difference during Raids. If you use a low-end computer, you should set the Max Gibs value to 0 to get the best gameplay experience. On a mid-range PC, you can set the Max Gibs level between 0-500. For a high-end computer, you can set the Max Gibs level all the way to 1000.

    Best Rust Interface Settings

Since these settings will not enhance or hinder the performance of Rust on your PC, you can choose them according to your personal preference. You can also check out the settings mentioned below for reference.

    • User Interface Scale: 1.0
    • Show HUD: On
    • Show Chat: On
    • Mute Global Chat: Off
    • Auto-Switch Chat Channels: On
    • Show Nametags: On
    • Game Tips: Off
    • Inventory Player Model: On

    Best Audio Settings

It is important to choose optimum audio settings while playing Rust. By doing so, you will be able to hear footsteps as well as other important sounds in the game quite clearly. Check out the best audio settings below:

    • Master Volume: 1.0
    • Music Volume: 0.0
    • Menu Music Volume: 0.0
    • Voices Volume: 3.0
    • Game Sounds Volume: 1.0
    • Instruments Volume: 1.0

In order to hear footsteps in the game even more clearly, you can alter the settings through your computer too.

    • To do so, all you need to do is type “Change System Sounds” in your Windows search bar. Once you do so, click on the resultant option.
    • From here, head to the “Playback” button. Now, right-click on Headphones/Speakers, and then click Properties.
    • Now go to the Enhancements tab and make sure the Loudness Equalization option is ticked.
    • Once you are done, just click on Apply and then Ok.

    Best Rust Screen Settings

    • Resolution: Stick to your monitor’s native resolution.
    • Mode: Exclusive Full Screen. Using this setting will make sure you only get the best FPS, input lag, and latency.
    • Vsync: Off
    • FPS Limit: 0. Keeping this limit to 0 will mean that there is no limit to the FPS.

    Best Graphics Settings

The graphics settings have the ability to either make your gameplay experience smooth or awful. This makes it extremely important to choose the best settings. Of course, you will need to remember that the graphics settings will differ depending on your PC and its specifications.

    • Graphics Quality: 6 (You can choose to reduce this setting in case you do not have enough Video RAM)
    • Shadow Quality: 1 (You can disable this setting if you use a low-end PC)
    • Shadow Cascades: 2 Cascades (Two Cascades). If you want the best performance, you can also set this setting to No Cascades.
    • Max Shadow Lights: 1. You can also choose to disable this setting in case your computer cannot handle it.
    • Water Quality: 0
    • Water Reflections: 0
    • World Reflections: 0
    • Shader Level: 500
    • Draw Distance: 1000
    • Shadow Distance: 50
    • Anisotropic Filtering: 1
    • Parallax Mapping: 0
    • Grass Displacement: Off

    Best Image Effects

If you wish to have the smoothest experience when playing Rust, we recommend you disable everything in this menu. Enabling the options in this menu will cause your computer to take a performance hit. If you want to, you can set the Anti-Aliasing to FXAA. You can also disable this setting if you use a low-end system.

    Best Experimental Settings

Just like the image effects, we recommend you turn off most of the options in the Experimental Settings. Doing so will help you get much better performance when playing Rust.

These were the best FPS settings you can use in Rust. As you may have seen, these settings will vary depending on the computer you use. Once you find the right settings, you will notice that the gameplay experience is much smoother and interesting to play, regardless of the system you use.

Now that you know the best settings for this game, check out how to make Rust load faster.

Nope, Titus isn't as serious as this picture implies. Began calling himself a gamer after burning his eyes out playing Road Rash as a kid. Somehow manages to get headshot in a game of Counter Strike even before a round begins. Oh, and he's also a photographer.
