how to build a habitat in stellaris

In Stellaris, a habitat is a region where all of your species can thrive. This place is located on the surface outside a traditional planet. The game features three different types of habitats, and in this guide, we will show you how to build one.

How to Build a Stellaris Habitat?

To build a new habitat, you will first have to research it in your research tree. We recommend you enhance your engineering base research in order to rush the research for the new habitat structure.

After you have completed the necessary research, you will be able to create a habitat that will overlook any planet in any particular sector of the galaxy. When building a new habitat, you will need to remember that the habitat you build will reflect the planet located below it. To put this in an example, if you create a habitat that overlooks a planet with energy credits, you will be able to build a generator on such a habitat.

Similarly, you will not be able to have a generator for minerals unless your habitat was overlooking a mineral-based planet.

Now that we know how to build a habitat, let us also check how much it costs to build the three different types of habitats in Stellaris.

What is The Cost of Building a Habitat?

In order to build the Orbital Habitat, you will have to spend 150 Influence and 1500 Alloys. This habitat will take 1800 days to build, and it will have a population size of 4.

To build a Habitat Expansion, you will need 1000 Alloys. This will take 720 days to build, and will have a population size of 6.

For an Advanced Space Habitation, you will have to spend 1000 Alloys. This habitat will take 1440 days to build and will have a population size of 8.

Why Should You Build a Habitat?

As you progress further in Stellaris, you will find expansion to be quite difficult. You will realize that it is much easier to build a new habitat instead of going out and conquering another empire. Building a new habitat will also make it easier for you to help your citizens find places to live in. Another great advantage of building habitats in Stellaris is the fact that you can avoid unnecessary conflicts with other empires, while also constantly expanding your own territory.

That’s the end of our guide on how to build a habitat in Stellaris. As long as you have completed the required research in the research tree, you too will be able to build your very own habitat, teeming and thriving with life!

Now that you have your own habitat, check out how you can change the difficulty levels in Stellaris.

Nope, Titus isn't as serious as this picture implies. Began calling himself a gamer after burning his eyes out playing Road Rash as a kid. Somehow manages to get headshot in a game of Counter Strike even before a round begins. Oh, and he's also a photographer.
