    How To Use BG3 Rope

Baldur's Gate 3: How to Use Rope

The rope is one of the many items you’ll encounter during your adventure in Baldur’s Gate 3. Players may come across ropes in their inventory and think of creative ways to implement them for exploration or combat, as in a Dungeons & Dragons campaign. However, the use of a rope is currently very limited. Here’s what you need to know about using rope.

How to Use Rope in BG3)?

Baldur's Gate 3: How to Use Rope

The primary use of a rope is throwing it in BG3 (Baldur’s Gate 3). To do this, select the rope in your inventory and click on the ground or object you wish to throw it at. The rope will unfurl in a straight line between your character and the target.

This allows you to potentially obstruct vents, buttons, levers, or other interactive objects by draping the rope over them. However, rope only blocks and does not permanently disable these objects. Enemies can simply remove the rope if they wish.

What Can You Not Do with Rope in Baldur’s Gate 3?

    • Climbing

The rope cannot be used to climb surfaces in Baldur’s Gate 3. You’ll need to find other paths around cliffs and walls. Rope lacks any climbing mechanics in this game.

    • Tying Up Enemies

Don’t expect to restrain enemies with rope, either. Hog-tying mechanics are not implemented, so rope cannot be used to tie up unconscious enemies. If knocked out, you’ll need to find other ways to keep them from causing more trouble.

    • Other Possibilities

Aside from throwing it, rope currently has no other uses in BG3. You cannot craft with it, set traps, or use it for any other utility purpose. It takes up inventory space.

The rope is currently a limited tool in BG3. Unless you need to obstruct interactive objects briefly, you may be better off selling any rope you find to vendors instead of carrying it around. Hopefully, more mechanics involving rope will be added in future updates.

This is all we have on the use of ropes in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you found this guide useful, check out our other Baldur’s Gate 3 section here at Gamer Tweak.
