With today’s Ubisoft Forward event, XDefiant finally has a confirmed release window. Being a potential COD killer, this arena-shooter game has caught quite the attention of players and streamers. While its closed beta struck quite a chord among the community, players were waiting for an official announcement from Ubisoft. So, when does the game come out? And what platforms will it be on? XDefiant Release Date
XDefiant is indefinitely delayed without any hints or updates of when it could launch. Most recently, Mark Rubin shared some latest updates on an X (Twitter) post. He thanked players for “hanging in there with them”. Earlier, Rubin had also apologized on an X post for not giving a release date for XDefiant. He stated that they didn’t want to give a release date unless they were “100% sure” of it.
Speaking of which, here are the following technical issues that are currently being worked on:
Party System
This has been the main issue blocking the release according to Rubin’s post on X. It was working fine throughout the development tests but when testing it live, the crossplay aspect failed. To resolve this issue, they are implementing a new party system which is currently used in other Ubisoft games.
Netcode
The team has been working on fixing critical bugs in some of the team’s third-party security software. This has been causing random frame spikes and other technical issues. Luckily, this netcode issue has been fixed.
Linux Servers
The dev team is moving all the servers over to Linux to improve server stability. It would also help make the servers scale up and down to handle loading much faster.
According to Mark Rubin’s statement on September 12, 2023, they were in between the tests with the QA/Compliance teams. However, due to not passing these tests, they had to work on the above issues. While explaining this technical roadmap, XDefiant was looking for an early/mid-October release.
But sadly, the anticipated game has been indefinitely delayed. We will update this guide as soon as more information is revealed by the devs.
