After witnessing the Best Games of this year, it is time we take a look at the other side of the coin too. Metacritic, the most reliable source for Game Reviews has revealed their ‘Top 10 Worst Games of 2023.’ These titles have received the lowest ratings on Metacritic which is mostly less than 50. Considering the evolution of the Gaming Industry and that level set for all the upcoming games, receiving such low ratings is definitely a nightmare for any Studio.
As we said, having the best and worst of anything is just two sides of the same coin. So here are the Worst Games of 2023 that have performed poorly on Metacritic.
Note that the games on this list should be released between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023. At the time of writing, there are still a few days left for the year-end. So this list is subject to change in case a new game is released.

With that list, it is now official that LOTR Gollum is the Worst Game of 2023 and we should accept it. I remember when it was released, it had some serious bugs and glitches that ruined the overall experience. Many of those bugs still exist but it doesn’t matter now. Aside from these issues, the game was completely lackluster with poor visuals, which made me feel like I am 10 years back in gaming.
As mentioned on the Metacritic Websites, the listed games are all reviewed by more than 7 professional critics. So any game that is reviewed by less than 7 critics is excluded from this list. In case there is a change in the Metascore, or a new game is released with lesser Metascore, the list will be updated.
