Like any other thriller movie, the Scream movie series, to this day, continues to gain a lot of attention when it comes to the Killer. The antagonist, also famously known as ‘Ghostface’ in this franchise has been a subject of discussion since the first movie that released in 1996. However, unlike other thriller films, the main mystery factor is the villain as most of the times, the masked killer is someone who has always been in close contact with the protagonist throughout the movie.
Considering this fact, these movies have always selected the perfect cast and placed the characters very strategically, throughout the timeline, in order to steer the viewers away from any suspicion, whatsoever. Similarly, Scream 5, which was released in 2022 brought back some of the iconic characters from the previous titles, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), and Dewy Riley (David Arquette).
Additionally, the main lead roles of the movie were Samantha “Sam” Carpenter (Melissa Barrera) and her sister Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega). Apart from this, just like the other movies, this one too, revolves around a friend group that consists of Wes (Dylan Minnette), Amber (Mikey Madison) Chad (Mason Gooding) Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown), Liv (Sonia Ben Ammar) and Sam’s boyfriend Richie (Jack Quaid). With the perfect blend of ‘blast from the past’ and mysterious new characters, Scream fans have been wondering which Woodsboro resident has been causing the spree of murders.
Who is Ghostface in Scream 5 (2022)?
Preserving the integrity of most of the Scream movies, this title also reveals not one but two masked killers who are responsible for mass murders and it is none other than Sam’s boyfriend Richie Kirsch (Jack Quaid) and Tara’s close friend Amber Freeman (Mikey Madison). Both of them are also able to get away with so many murders as they were given the benefit of doubt considering their close connection to the main characters. Although the movie initially suspects Vince Schneider (Kyle Gallner) to be Ghostface, he is murdered relatively early in the movie.
According to the movie’s storyline, both Richie and Amber caused this massacre because they were obsessed with the Stab films and believed they could solely revive the franchise.
However, good prevails over evil, and towards the end of the film, Sam stabs Richie multiple times (22 times, if we’re counting) and then shoots him thrice as a precaution. On the other hand, as Amber somehow still survives the flames and tries to attack Sam, Sidney, and Gale, Tara shoots her in the head, which results in both the killers of Scream 5 brutally dying at the end of the film.
