While MVP is Most Valuable Player, many are wondering what is SVP and how it is calculated. Here’s what you need to know and why it’s worth trying to get it.

The meaning of SVP is Second Valuable Player. Interestingly, this title is given to a player even if they are on the losing team. This encourages good performance from every player in the match despite being a losing game for one side. It signifies that you’ve made substantial contributions to your team’s success, even though you didn’t quite reach the level of the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

While the idea behind this metric-based reward is good, many also believe that this will lead to a more individual performance of players instead of team play. The best strategy would be to do your best solo and help your team well because the algorithm considers a variety of factors before granting the title at the end of a match.

Here are the factors that determine SVP:

While the exact information isn’t available, the in-game factors that are known to give you the SVP tag are damage output, accuracy, number of eliminations, survival (fewer deaths), and damage blocked or healed based on your hero choice.

Benefits:

Getting the SVP title isn’t just a visual reward, because if you’re playing ranked matches, you won’t lose rank points helping you maintain your rank. So, when you’re playing competitive games, getting SVP is a win even if the overall match was a loss.
