In Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, you will come across the Water Wheel Puzzle in Lower City, early on in the game. This is one of the first few obstacles you will face, while you are trying to find Menolias in the Forest. Once you are able to complete this intense puzzle, you will have to face the Undead Prisoner and defeat him.
However, in order to begin this combat and continue your journey to the forest, you will have to solve the complex puzzle first. Since most players are not able to figure out how they have to turn the Water Wheel and how they need to use the pressure plates embedded into the ground, here is a complete walkthrough you can follow, so that you can open the locked door and get to the Hyrcanian Forest.
How to Solve the Lower City Water Wheel Puzzle in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown
In order to solve the Water Wheel puzzle you will first have to jump on the pole that is at the bottom of the Wheel and is located in the center, between the two pressure plates. You will then have to jump from this pole to the other one, towards the top left corner. You can go around the pole so that you are able to gain momentum and it is easier to hop on the second pole.
From the second pole, you will have to rotate again, jump and hold the handle on the wall. Now let go of the handle, jump upwards, and hit the switch that is on the ceiling. The timing of this process has to be precise and once you are at the top, you will have to jump strategically so that you don’t end up falling without flicking the switch.
Once you hit it, the left-hand side hatch will open up. When you step on the pressure plate, you will notice that the water pressure on the left side has increased. The next step will be to stand on the left plate and move both the poles towards the right side so that you can repeat this process.
In order to make this step easier to understand, you can assume the Wheel is a clock and according to that, one pole should be at 3 o’clock and the other at 6 o’clock. You can also refer to the image attached below and arrange the poles accordingly. Once they are arranged according to this, jump on the first pole, rotate, and then hop onto the second pole that is above you, a little towards the right-hand side.
Once you gain a little momentum and spin around the pole a few times, jump straight above and hit the switch on the ceiling. Now that the right-hand side hatch is opened as well, the water pressure on this side will also increase.
When you look towards the right, you will notice two gears, the upper one will have a pole attached to it. You will have to stand on the right pressure plate and set this pole to 12 o’clock. After this is done, using the pressure plate, get both the poles on the Water Wheel to their 3 o’clock and 6 o’clock positions once again.
For the final step, jump on the first pole, rotate a few times, then jump on the second pole (3 o’clock) and then jump on the pole that is right next to you, towards the right-hand side (12 o’clock pole). Once you’ve spun around this pole and gained momentum, jump and hold the handle that is located on the wall, toward the right-hand side. You will be able to pull this lever down which will help you open the door.
