Valorant community is excited about the news of a new agent. Varun Batra codenamed Harbor will join the Valorant roster in Episode 5 Act 3, along with a New Battle Pass, and New Weapons Collection. On 12th October, Riot Games released an Agent Trailer titled “Turn The Tides” that gives us an origin of the agent and a peak into his abilities. Who is Varun “Harbor” Batra in Valorant?
Hailing from India, Varun “Harbor” Batra is the newest addition to the Valorant character roster. According to various teasers and the agent trailer, Harbor will have the power to Control Water. This can be linked with his name ‘Varun’ like the Hindu God of Oceans ‘Varuna’. The Agent Trailer shows us the origin of Varun’s powers.
Now a little bit into his backstory. Varun is an agent for REALM, an organization that recovers historical artifacts and antiques. On one such expedition in Mumbai with Captain Greaves, Varun comes across a mysterious artifact that gives him powers. With the help of these powers, he escapes and is labeled as a fugitive. In the Agent Trailer, he is shown to be on the run across the country until he is finally rescued by Brimstone.

Through the new Agent Trailer, we can speculate some of the abilities Harbor will display in the game.
Tidal Wall
Harbor raises a Tidal Wall to stop his chasers during the chase scene. The wall bent like Phoenix’s Blaze but it also seemed impenetrable like Astra’s wall. The wall lasted for 5 to 7 seconds before falling.
Water Bubble
Many players thought that the Water Bubble will be the Smoke Ability of Harbor. Although in the teaser, it also acts as a shield. This can be a huge advantage to the players as they will dare to stick the defuse without getting shot.
Tidal Wave
As a controller, Tidal Wave seems like his ability to displace or stun his opponents. Varun Batra will be crucial to clear angles and defensive positions in Valorant.
Ultimate
John “RiotMEMEMEMEME” Goscicki, the Sr. Game Producer at Riot Games, hinted that Varun will be able to cover large areas like Viper. This fourth ability might be similar to Breach, concussing the players hit with it or decaying their health.
Role of Harbor in Valorant
Harbor will be Controller in Valorant. This was much needed since there are only 4 controllers in the game, 3 of which were there since the beta phase. The addition of Harbor will completely change the controller meta because of his seemingly exciting abilities. The inclusion of Harbor will favor Smoke and Support players.
