Valheim: How To Back-Up And Restore Game Data

The much-awaited survival video game Valheim has finally released and there are players who have almost completed the game. If you have already completed half of the game and fearing what happens if you lose your game date?

There are tons of players who have been wondering how to backup and restore your game data and if that’s you then look no further as we have got you everything covered.

Valheim: How To Back-Up Game Data

To backup your game data in Valheim, you will have to follow these simple steps:

  • Open search bar and type %appdata%
  • It will open up the “Roaming” folder.
  • Go to the address bar and select “AppData”.
  • There, you will see three folders —  Local, LocalLow and Roaming.
  • Select the ‘LocalLow’ folder and then select ‘IronGate’ folder.
  • Open ‘Valheim’ Folder.
  • Copy the folders: “characters” and “worlds”.
  • Make sure to paste these files in a ‘Safe’ location on your PC.

Once you have saved these files into a safe location, you will restore the backup at any time by putting these files back into the location.

Valheim: How To Restore Game Data

Restoring game date in Valheim is too easy. However, if you don’t know how to do it then follow these simple steps.

  • Open search bar and type %appdata%
  • It will open up the “Roaming” folder.
  • Go to the address bar and select “AppData”.
  • There, you will see three folders —  Local, LocalLow and Roaming.
  • Select the ‘LocalLow’ folder and then select ‘IronGate’ folder.
  • Open ‘Valheim’ Folder and there you will see a folder named ‘Worlds’.
  • Upon opening  “World” folder, you will find two files inside — a .db file and a .fwl file.
  • If you are fortunate enough then you will find another bunch of files such as —  xxxxx.fwl.old, and xxxxxx.db.old
  • Change the name of the files by removing .old.
  • Doing this will restore your last backup.
