Aside from the usual melee skillset, you should cast or use Magic Spells in Lords of the Fallen too. It promotes a ranged approach in combat where players can mitigate maximum damage taken without compromising with the damage output. You may feel like using spells is not important in the early period. But you will also feel the need to learn this skill in the later periods of the game.
So in this guide, I will explain to you everything about using Spells in Lords of the Fallen 2. This includes all 3 types of Magic: Radiant, Inferno, and Umbral. But before learning how to cast spells, you should know how they work. Scroll down on this page to learn more about it.
How Magic Works in LOTF
As I said, there are 3 types of Magic available that include Radiant, Inferno, and Umbral. To use these Magic types, you need to focus on their respective Stats. For instance, using Radiant and Inferno Magic will require you to upgrade the Radiance and Inferno Stats respectively. And those who would like to cast Umbral Magic should excel in both Radiance and Inferno stats.
One more important thing, you need to have a compatible Catalyst to use Spells in Lords of the Fallen. There are Radiant, Inferno, and Umbral Catalysts found across the map. These Catalysts are equipped to your Weapon Slot after which you can assign your obtained spells on them.
Note: Spells are equipped to the row beneath the Catalyst slot. The equipped Spell will be assigned a key which will be displayed above it. However, if you are not comfortable with the keybinds, you can always change it using the in-game settings
How to Use Spell in Lords of the Fallen
Now that you know how Magic works, let us know how can you start using it:
- While in-game, use the d-pad to switch to the equipped Catalyst.
- After that, press L2/LT to equip hold Catalyst and press the designated to cast a spell.
- If you are playing on PC, then you will have the Catalyst assigned to a number key (most probably 2). You need to hold the CTRL button to hold the Catalyst and press the respective spell button to cast it.
You should equip and use a spell depending on your character build. For instance, if you are looking to build an offensive character, then you should go for Inferno Spells. That’s because Inferno Magic uses the Fire element to cause massive damage to the opponent. Similarly, Radiant Magic focuses on Spells that provide buffs and heal your character. And for the Umbral Magic, it has a mix of both aggressive and supportive spells.
Can you Cast Unlimited Magic?
To use Spells in Lords of the Fallen, you need to spend some Mana energy. The Mana bar is located just behind your HP bar and it reduces each time you cast Magic. Unfortunately, you can not use unlimited Magic Spells. But the good news is that the Mana replenishes after you Rest at a Vestige. Resting also recovers your ammo, and healing charges (Sanguinarix). Other ways to regenerate Mana include the consumption of a Manastone Cluster. This resource is usually found after defeating enemies or can be purchased from different vendors.
That’s how you can use Spells in Lords of the Fallen. For more such content, feel free to browse through our dedicated section for LOTF Guides. We have stacked up plenty of them here at Gamer Tweak.
