The D20, often known as the 20-sided die, is an important aspect of your Dungeons and Dragons campaign in Baldur’s Gate 3. And, while players have been able to modify the appearance of their dice as part of the game’s vast customization options since its release, Larian Studios’ patch 5 update added a new mythical skin for serious players. It’s known as the Golden D20 in BG3, and players have been trying to get their hands on it since to add to their collection of skins.
However, obtaining the golden dice in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a difficult undertaking and it is quite intentional by the developers. Since it requires completing the game in a specific mode, you must first complete your initial playthrough before beginning a new one. So, if you want to have the Golden D20 for an even more intriguing D&D experience, then here is a guide you should check out further.
How to Get the Golden D20 in Baldur’s Gate 3
To unlock the Golden D20 in Baldur’s Gate 3, players must complete the game with the new Honour Mode enabled, and without dying. The game mode uses a single save file for the duration of the campaign. That is, if your whole party is killed while going through the Forgotten Realms, you will have to restart the game from the beginning. While you can continue the campaign after you die, it effectively expels you from the mode in BG3.
The Honour Mode, which is the most difficult mode you will come across, makes the story even more difficult, all while introducing over 30 additional changes to all boss fights. According to Larian Studios, it also includes a new Legendary Action system that is expressly designed to catch all players playing BG3 off guard and raise the difficulty.
In addition, Baldur’s Gate 3 bosses will be able to do new and enhanced actions, making the game tougher overall. This means, that in order to obtain the Golden D20 in the game, players must just cruise through Honour Mode and live until the end. Once you have done so, you will be able to modify the appearance of your dice by heading to the dice roll menu and selecting the option in the bottom left corner.
