Sneakers and Videogames have become an inseparable part of our culture. With the new PS5 based PG shoe, we thought it to be a good time to make a new list of video game-inspired sneakers. These two industries are these two amazing juggernauts with their impact transcending boundaries and creating an entire community of immeasurable scale of their own. It was bound to happen that both these worlds clashed to create a load of collaborations and highly revered memorabilia. Most of these collaborations usually end up being done by Nike, hence the majority of Nike sneakers in this list (no, they don’t sponsor us. We wish they did). Here’s a look at our top 6 picks of video game-inspired sneakers.
Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 SD “Streetfighter”
Ahhh yes, that name is quite a mouthful. Onitsuka has collaborated with Streetfighter to launch a limited run of these gorgeous pair of shoes that are exclusive to the character Chun Li. Each shoe comes with a unique code that helps unlocks the specific bodysuit and shoe within the game, giving some much-needed heat.
Puma RS-O ERROR
Puma is bringing some fire with their RS-O shoe that harks back to the 80s gaming scene. It features a black upper with vibrant, contrast colors on the toe and a pixelated logo on the side. The midsole features glitch-like graphics bringing back some good old memories.
Air Jordan 1 “XBOX”
Possibly the most iconic name in the sneaker world. This is one of the most minimalist sneakers on this list. It also looks like one of the more famous Jordan Brand sneakers, the “Pine Green”. It features XBOX branding and intricate details such as XBOX branded lace tips.
Nike PG 2 “PlayStation”
This has got to be one of the dopest and most hyped sneakers on this list. Complete with backlit logos on the tongue, legitimate DLC codes on the shoe, and a midsole that looks like PlayStation’s home screen, it is a marvel of shoe design.
Air Jordan 4 “GameBoy”
Sneaker prices have started reaching new heights. Most times you end up spending money on a pair that has a resale that is 10 times more than its retail. However, one look at these pairs of Js and your heart will justify the 1300 $ price tag. You even get a mini-console hanging from the side.
Nike Air Force 1 “PlayStation” 2006
The Air Force 1 is one of Nike’s most iconic silhouettes. In 2006 this shoe got some fancy new clothes with PlayStation branding meaning you couldn’t mistake it for anything else. This is one of the rarest and coveted sneakers to ever grace our eyes and we are all for it!
Some honorable mentions:
Nike SB High Dunk Pro ‘Pacman’, Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ‘Super Mario Bros’ (2011), Air Jordan 1 ‘League Of Legends’
