Elden Ring: How To Get Tonic Of Forgetfulness

Tonic of Forgetfulness is a unique item in Elden Ring that you can get but not directly use. Most items you can directly use from your inventory but this one serves a different purpose. In fact, it is not even meant for the Tarnished to use. And getting this item is quite tedious. But if you really need it then be prepared to go on quite a long questline. So in this guide let us check how to get and use Tonic of Forgetfulness in Elden Ring.

How to Get the Tonic of Forgetfulness in Elden Ring

You can get the Tonic of Forgetfulness from Tanith while progressing in Rya’s questline. Here is all you need to do.

  1. Fast travel to the Scenic Isle site of grace and go east.
  2. Look for a shrine near the Telescope, here you will meet Rya.
  3. Talk to her and choose to help her, next exhaust all her dialogues.
  4. Next, from Scenic Isle go northwest and purchase the necklace from Blackguard. You can buy it for 1000 Runes.
  5. Now, go back to the place where you met her and return her the necklace.
  6. Talk to her and she will give you the Volcano Manor Invitation.
  7. Now, go to the Grand Lift of Dectus in Altus Plateau and use the lift. You will need the two medallion pieces in order to use the lift.
    • Left Medallion: Go to the Fort Haight located in Mistwood, you can find it on the top chest here.
    • Right Medallion: You can find this in the chest at the top of Fort Faroth located in Dragonbarrow.
  8. Once you use the lift you will find Rya waiting outside for you. In case she is not there then try resetting the site of grace. And if even that doesn’t work then you will have to go all the way to Volcano Manor.
  9. Talk to Rya and she will directly take you to the Volcano Manor.
  10. Use the Volcano Manor site of grace.
  11. Here, talk to Tanith.
  12. She will give you two choices, select Join Volcano Manor. Tanith will then give you the Drawing room key.
  13. Go to the Drawing room and talk to Rya.
  14. Here find the Letter from Volcano Manor to do the first assassination quest.
  15. The first quest requires you to defeat Old Knight Istvan at Limgrave.
  16. After you complete this quest go and talk to Tanith and then Rya. Exhaust both of their dialogues.
  17. Now, pick up another letter from the table.
  18. The second quest requires you to defeat Rileigh the Idle at Altus Plateau.
  19. After completing this quest go and talk to Rya and exhaust her dialogues.
  20. Next, go to Tanith and talk to her. Tell her about Rya’s new form.
  21. Now, reset the site of grace and talk to Rya.
  22. Next, go to Tanith and share Rya’s troubles with her.
  23. After talking to Tanith go back and take first left then first right.
  24. In this room hit the wall with the portrait and reveal the secret area.
  25. Take a left and keep going straight and keep going down.
  26. Next, take another left up the stairs and activate the site of grace Prison Town Church.
  27. Open the door and take two rights and keep going straight down. You should be heading northwest.
  28. Dodge the enemies here, take a left, and go straight. You should be heading southwest.
  29. Eventually, you will find a snake guard. Go left and jump above the balcony on the roof then go south.
  30. Go inside the door on the right. You will find it is open.
  31. Take a left and go south then go down the steps on the right.
  32. Once you reach down go left, and finally take two rights to get to the Guest Hall site of grace.
  33. Use this site of grace.
  34. Go back to the Volcano Manor site of grace and talk to Rya. Tell her the Dark side of the Volcano Manor.
  35. Now, return to the Guest Hall site of grace.
  36. Go out of this room and open the door on the right and jump down.
  37. Go straight then up the steps on the right.
  38. Keep following the natural path and you will come across a snake enemy ignore it and use the lift in front of it.
  39. Once you reach up, take left and go up the steps inside the castle.
  40. Here, fight the Godskin Noble and defeat it. You will unlock the Temple of Eiglay site of grace.
  41. Go to the altar behind the site of grace and pick up the Serpent’s Amnion.
  42. Now, go back to Volcano Manor and give the Serpent’s Amnion to Rya.
  43. Reset the site of grace and Rya will be missing from her location.
  44. Finally, go and talk to Tanith and tell her about Rya’s absence and she will give you the Tonic of Forgetfulness.

How to Use Tonic of Forgetfulness

There are two ways to use this item. You can either use it on Rya or you can use it on Corhyn.
