You can find Thornmato in the Astra and Navia areas of Aesperia. Most of the locations where you find Thornmato are close to water bodies. Since it is useful in cooking and while you unlock recipes, you should farm this plant quickly in TOF.
It grows on trees and you can spot it easily. It might be a little different but it does bear the same resemblance to Tomatoes. Each plant will have multiple Thornmato that you can get in TOF.
A raw Thornmato can only improve Satiety by 1 so it is better to use this plant with other recipes. You can either use it with one of the unlocked recipes and cook something or try to experiment with a new recipe. Although they are not found in abundance, they are quite easy to collect so you can come back if you have a shortage of Thornmato.
