In Splatoon 3, Super Sea Snails are a rare currency you can use to upgrade your Gear. When you upgrade a Gear piece, it gains a Star. Each Star unlocks an ability slot until the Gear’s max amount. After that, the Gear’s stats are enhanced. To get Super Sea Snails, you must participate in Splatfests. A Splatfest is an event that occurs every so often. You will have to compete in it and gain Splatfest EXP. The more Splatfest EXP you earn, the higher your Splatfest title will get. Upon completing a Splatfest title, you will get Super Sea Snails. The higher the Splatfest title, the more Super Sea Snails you will get.
By the end of the Splatfest, you will be able to redeem your Rewards and get the Super Sea Snails in the game. Once you have enough of it, you will have to meet Murch. He is an NPC that you can find at the Lobby entrance. Talk to him and he will help you upgrade your Gear. Not only can you upgrade your Gear with Super Sea Snails but also Re-roll them for better ones. This is completely random and you will gain Ability Chunks for it.
