What are Warzone 2 Strongholds? [Explained]

Strongholds in Warzone 2

Strongholds are practically buildings that are heavily guarded by strong AI’s in the game. However, they have different functions in Warzone 2 battle royale and DMZ. In battle royale matches, three different strongholds will be activated around the map. You and your squad can choose to infiltrate the building and eliminate all AI enemies within it. However, your task is going to be cut out. If you’re the first team to enter the stronghold, you will also have to defuse a bomb. Simply follow the wire-cutter icon to find out the location of the bomb. Upon doing it, you will receive a Black Site key and your custom loadout. Black Sites are considered to be even harder than a stronghold but at the end you will receive a permanent weapon blueprint and legendary items.

Strongholds in DMZ Mode

In DMZ Strongholds, however, you will need to find a key in order to enter the building. These stronghold keycards can be found as loot from AI enemies as well as real players. Another option is to purchase them from the Buy Station on the map for $5000. Make sure you are well prepared as there will be several enemies in and around the stronghold in DMZ. Each stronghold will have different difficulty levels. The quality of the rewards you find will be tied to the difficulty level of the stronghold Keep in mind that these areas are highly contested. You are bound to come across rival teams as well.
