Fix Steam Community Market is Temporarily Disabled Error
There can be several reasons for the Steam Community Market is temporarily disabled error. So, here’s how you can fix this error on Steam:
- Check if Steam is Down
- Check if the servers of the Game are down
- Ensure that Steam Guard is enabled
- Reinstall Steam
- Alternative Marketplace
Check if Steam is Down
You can face the temporarily disabled error if the servers of the Community Market are down. So, head to sites such as Down Detector or Steam Status to find out if there are any server outages recently. If these servers are down, there is nothing we can do except wait for a while. But if the servers are running, try out our next workaround.
Check if the Game Servers are down
If the servers of the game you are trying to buy or sell items for are down, you can encounter this error. In such cases, be patient and wait for some time before the devs resolve the server outages. Once the servers are back online, you should be able to access the Steam Community Marketplace.
Ensure that Steam Guard is enabled
Your account should be protected by the Steam Guard for at least 15 days before you use the Community market. You can enable the Steam Guard via email or mobile authenticator. As shared by Steam Support, this is to protect your items and Steam Wallet funds from being misused by someone who may have illicitly obtained your password. If you have only recently enabled the Steam Guard, you cannot use the Community Market for 15 days. Furthermore, removing and re-enabling the Steam Guard triggers the 15 day-restriction too.
Reinstall Steam
You can uninstall and reinstall the Steam launcher to check if that resolves the error.
- So, head to the Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program.
- Select Steam from the list of programs and press the Uninstall button.
- Once uninstalled, reinstall Steam from here.
- Then, head to Community Market and try to buy or sell items.
Alternative Marketplace
If the above workarounds don’t resolve the temporarily disabled error, you can go for an alternative marketplace to buy items for your games. With the recent server outages and errors, several players have opted for an alternative marketplace for games like CSGO, Dota 2, or Valorant. But we recommend choosing any outside sources with extreme caution and at your own risk. There are only a few reliable Marketplaces like Skinport and G2G that are safe for purchases or trades.
Note that if you have recently reset your password, you will be restricted to use Community Market for 5 days. Also, if you haven’t used your Steam account for more than 2 months, these restrictions will apply for 30 days.
