Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3 Could Be In Development?

An unusual message is currently circulating through the vastness of the Internet, because a new chapter of the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3 title is said to be in development.

Almost exactly ten years ago to the day, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II was the last game that the cult company LucasArts had developed itself. Since then it has been known to be extremely quiet around the series and even if the company denied the end of the series for a long time, this should be a done deal at the latest after the takeover of the Star Wars license by Disney. However, there is currently a rumor that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3 is actually in development.

The said news goes back to industry insider Daniel Richtman, who had already proven to be a reliable source for some Disney projects in the past. Now he claims to have found out that The Force Unleashed 3 is in an early stage of development. Since this report has not yet been officially commented on or even confirmed, it should of course be taken with a grain of salt.

In the event that there should actually be something to these rumors, this in turn leads to some exciting questions. First of all, for example, whether the game would really be a continuation of the first two parts. As it is well known, these no longer belong to the official Star Wars title, but to the so-called Legends area. Consequently, it is conceivable that the events of the first two games could be retrospectively changed to fit into the new title.

Furthermore, the question remains whether the game could be based on the now-discarded features that LucasArts thought up at the time. For the original Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3 was planned to move the once linear series into an open game world. Starkiller and his former master Darth Vader would have crashed on a strange planet and would have had to work together to escape from this place again. The mastermind responsible for the crash would of course have been the Emperor Darth Sidious.

Finally, there is also the question of a potential development studio. Respawn Entertainment could certainly implement a third part of The Force Unleashed series, but the studio is currently busy with the work on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2. EA Motive, DICE, or BioWare have also gained experience in the galaxy far, far away in the past, but have no experience with quick third-person games.
