A lot of things rely on making your character strengths in the game. For example the suit, mods, gadgets, abilities, etc. As you progress you will earn Activity Tokens and Tech-Parts.
It can be used to buy and upgrade your suit, mods, and gadgets. They will contribute more towards your Health points. So when you are in a battle be ready to press D-pad down to refill your health bar. Health is limited and the bar depletes as you face damage. This is where dodging plays a big role.
