Important Updates About Sony's Digital Refund Policy

Sony took time but finally implemented a Refund Policy for Digital purchases with certain limitation that sounds less but this can be beginning of improvements. If you are having a PS4 and you buy games regularly then it is important for you to find out what Sony’s Digital Refund Policy holds. How you can refund game if you are changed your mind without breaking the conditions.

Sony today updated the policy by adding a little gap for users to decide to get their money back. This is not easy as it sounds, there reimbursed of money for a Digital purchase will be accepted within two weeks, that is 14 days if the users had not downloaded the game.

The refund is applicable only if user had changed his mind to not to play the game, so avoid downloading at all cost. The money will come back in PlayStation Network Wallet, not added to the back account or credit card used for payment. There are possible chances in future Sony will expand the service with more features.   1. 14 Days period for games, DLC and Add-ons to Claim Refund to PSN Wallet only if you had not downloaded or streamed anything.
  2. 14 Days period to claim refund for Subscriptions, or service with a recurring fee like PS Plus, PS Now or Spotify. Refund amount will be after deducting the days used. Free Trials are included in 14 Days period.

Pre-orders Refund:

  • Pre-order purchases made more than 14 days before the release date: For this type of pre-order purchase, you can request a refund at any time up until the release date of the content.
  • Pre-order purchases made fewer than 14 days before the release date: For this type of pre-order purchase, you can request a refund up to 14 days* after the date of purchase.

To claim refund you have to fill up a contact form, select refund-request and update details like PSN Online ID, Sign-in ID, Date of Birth and Name of purchased item. Compared to Sony’s refund policy certain stores allow users to test the game and claim refund. This is more viable option. We can expect such changes in future.
