2021 will be a big year for Sonic as the hedgehog turns 30, according to Takashi Iizuka, 2021 will be as big of a year for Sonic as 2017 had been which saw 2 new games being released.
In a recent interview with Game Informer Iizuka said, “2017 was a big year for Sonic. The next big year for Sonic is 2021. That’s the 30-year anniversary for Sonic. We are now preparing”.
We could probably see something similar to Sonic Generations which was released when the franchise had turned 20.
It looks like 2021 will be a big year for SEGA and Sonic fans in general as confirmed by Sonic Team boss himself. It may also point out that SEGA will withhold from releasing any Sonic game until the 30th year anniversary but all in all we believe it will be worth the wait.
The Sonic franchise did release a kart racing game this year which was fun and you could spend hours without feeling tired or bored, along with that the Sonic movie will hit theatres next year.
This means that Sonic fans won’t be missing out on their favorite character all that much.
