There are a lot of new and improved battle mechanics that will take some time for you to get used in Persona 3 Reload. However, the latest remake also brings back certain elements from its previous installment as well as a couple of specific features from other Persona games. And one such featured mechanic is Shift in Persona 3 Reload which will be essential to make the most out of all the characters’ abilities in combat going forward.
The newly added battle mechanic works similarly to that of the Baton Pass feature from Persona 5. Although, some things are a bit different than the original mechanic and there are many things for players to consider this time around. In this guide, we will explain everything about Shift and how to unlock & use during combat in the game.
What is Shifting in Persona 3 Reload?
As mentioned above, Shift in Persona 3 Reload works similarly to the Baton Pass feature in Persona 5 for most of the aspects. Once you exploit your enemy’s weaknesses and land a critical hit in the game, you will be able to gain an extra turn. And with Shift present, you will be able to switch to another character by handing over your turn to them.
The major difference between these two features is that using Shift will only let you hand over the turn, unlike Baton Pass, which would provide a power boost to the next character. It is also worth noting that there are certain conditions where you won’t be able to use Shift in Person 3 Reload.
Players won’t be able to shift if the character next to them has a status condition in place and if they haven’t yet unlocked the feature with the specific character.
How to Unlock & Use Shift in Persona 3 Reload
Players can unlock the ability by interacting with other characters in Persona 3 Reload. Once you reach a certain level with them, you will be able to use Shift with them during combat. However, as mentioned before, you will have to interact with all the companions to unlock the ability with each of them.
That said, once unlocked, you will find using Shift in Persona 3 Reload much easier. You will need to first exploit the enemy’s weakness or land a critical hit during combat.
Once you get 1 More! you will be able to use Shift to hand over the turn to the next character. The option for Shift will appear as soon as you land the hit. It can be useful if you need certain characters to deal damage, heal, hit weak points, etc.
