Should You Save Rafael In Starfield?

Published Date :

One of the most thought-provoking quests, Entangled, forces players into an impossible decision with no good answers. You discover an experimental machine that can link alternate realities through mysterious artifacts during Entangled. However, something has gone wrong – two universes are now entangled, and you must decide which one survives and which is erased. So, should you save Rafael or Director Patel in Starfield?

Save Rafael or Director Patel in Starfield Entangled?

Should You Save Rafael In Starfield?

In the Entangled side quest, you are presented with a difficult choice – save either Rafael or Director Patel after a catastrophic lab accident strands them in alternate realities. While saving more lives may seem like the obvious moral choice, there are practical recruitment and reward considerations to weigh as well. It is worth noting that you cannot save both Rafael and Director Patel in this quest.

  • Save Rafael – This allows you to recruit him as a free crew member, making him a valuable addition to your ship. Rafael has beneficial Outpost Management and Engineering skills to help you establish outposts efficiently.
  • Save Director Patel – This rewards you with more credits, experience, and an experimental Incendiary Calibrated spacesuit/helmet. However, her entire research team will perish.

We recommend saving Rafael if optimizing your ship and outposts is a priority, as it will add a talented crew member for free. Saving Rafael does not provide unique gear, but his skills as a free recruit are very beneficial. He can be found at the Viewport Bar in New Atlantis after saving him and being recruited instantly.

But Director Patel is the choice if you value the lives saved and high credits/gear reward more. Director Patel rewards slightly more credits, XP, and the useful experimental spacesuit.

That’s all you can do to save Rafael in Starfield. Be sure to check out Starfield Wiki right here at Gamer Tweak. We have added plenty of helpful content for you there.
