The Sewers is a locked area of Stardew Valley which players unlock with Rusty Key. Getting this key and entering the Sewer might not be easy though. It is a straightforward yet long process, and you must unlock the Sewers to buy items like Monster Fireplace, Void Essence, Solar Essence, and Sign of The Vessel Statue. The Rusty Sewer key is in the hands of Gunther, the Pelican Town’s museum operator. You will find Gunther from 8 am to 6 pm in the museum. To get the key from him, you must donate 60 items and wait until the next morning. On the following morning, he will come to thank you and give you the Rusty Key.

Now that you have the Key, head back to the south of Pelican Town to find the Sewer. As you go near it, you will receive a message “You unlock the sewer hatch with the Rusty Key“. You unlock several things by accessing this area, such as the Statue of Uncertainty, which allows you to change your profession for 10,000 gold. Apart from that, this is where you find Krobus and Mutant Bug Lair.
Krobus runs a shop with unique fixed and rotating stocks, including Void Egg, Void Essence, Solar Essence, and Iridium Sprinkler. As for the Mutant Bug Lair, you unlock the Dark Talisman quest; its entrance is in the northwestern part of the Sewer. This place has two fish varieties you wouldn’t find anywhere else in the valley.
