The world of Baldur’s Gate 3 is filled with mysteries for players to uncover. One such puzzle can be found in the Enclave Library, where a magical seal blocks progress. The Rune of the Wolf unlocks access to the treasure vault of the Druids of the Emerald Grove, but reaching the vault itself can be a bit unclear for some players. We will explain how to get and use Rune of The Wolf in Baldur’s Gate (BG3).
How to Get Rune of The Wolf in BG3?
You can obtain the Rune of the Wolf in a few different ways when you arrive at Druid Grove. It can only be obtained from a specific NPC named Rath, located in the main hall of the area. Rath sits near the puzzle you need to solve to continue the quest. We have listed three methods for this:
Steal from Rath
An easier option is to steal the Rune from Rath directly. To do this:
- Use a stealthy character like Astarion when Rath is not looking
- Pickpocket or steal the Rune from Rath’s belongings
You must be careful, as confronting Rath if caught can be dangerous. Utilize stealth and sleight of hand.
Save Halsin
One method is to agree to save Halsin from the nearby Goblin Camp, where he is being held captive. To do this, you must:
- Kill the Goblin leaders Priestess Gut, Dror Ragzlin, and Minthara.
- Clear out all the goblins in the camp.
- Free Halsin from captivity.
- Return with Halsin to the Druid Grove.
After returning Halsin to the Grove, speak with him and the Druid leader Rath. As a reward for saving Halsin, Rath will give you the Rune of the Wolf.
Kill Rath
A third option is to kill Rath and loot the Rune from his body. The Druid Grove questline, however, will be ruined because Rath must be alive for it to continue.
How to Use the Rune of the Wolf in BG3?
Once you have Rune of the Wolf, go to the Enclaved Library southwest of the island and find the vault door downstairs in the back right corner. Approach the door with the empty pedestals circling it, then interact with the far right one and place the Rune of the Wolf from your inventory.
After that, interact with each pedestal counterclockwise to activate them. This will open the vault door. Head downstairs to find chests and lootable containers, including the Sorrow two-handed sword on a weapon rack against the back wall. Pick it up to equip it and gain access to the Ensnaring Strike skill that summons immobilizing vines.
That covers everything about how to get and use Rune of The Wolf in BG3. Also, take a look at Baldur’s Gate 3 Guides right here on Gamer Tweak.
