If you have recently purchased a new Google Chromebook, you might find it surprising that there is no separate right-click button on the touchpad, but that doesn’t mean the function is not available on the notebook. If you want to right-click on something, there are a few ways to perform this action without even needing to connect to a mouse. In this guide, we will walk you through on how to right click on a Chromebook in the different ways listed below.

How to Right Click on a Chromebook

There are several ways to right-click on a Google Chromebook: the first technique is right-clicking with two fingers, and the second one is to right-clicking using the Keyboard Modifier. Check out both methods given below.

1. Right Click on a Chromebook with two fingers

  • First, click on the touchpad with two fingers to easily right-click on a Chromebook.
  • After that, a right-click context menu will pop up.
  • Alternatively, you can also turn on the Tap-To-Click feature on Chromebook, and to do that, click on the Clock at the bottom right corner.
  • A new System menu will open, here you need to click on Settings which will look like the cog wheel icon.
  • Go to the bottom and then click the “Advanced” option.
  • Navigate to the bottom again and then click on Device > Touchpad.
  • Now, click on the “Enable tap-to-click” toggle button to turn it on.
  • Finally, tap both fingers on the touchpad and a right-click menu will open.

2. Right Click on a Chromebook with a Keyboard Modifier

First, press and hold down the “ALT” key on the keyboard and then tap on the touchpad.
This will perform a right click feature on Chromebook.
Alternatively, you can also turn on the “Tap-To-Click” option by following the methods above and then holding the “Alt” key and tapping on the touchpad to perform a right click.
