Respawn Legends has banned over 355,000 cheaters in Apex Legends on PC alone through their Easy-Anti-Cheat. This is terrific news as cheaters end up ruining the game for the actual gamers who are trying to have a nice time but end up with a severe disadvantage when a cheaters use all means necessary to spoil a game.
It spreads like a virus, cheaters flock to every popular game and pollute it for other before bailing after killing the entire game for personal satisfaction. This not only interrupts other gamers but also affects the studio as a lot of their genuine audience leaves the sinking ship to find a safe haven.
In a Reddit post, Respawn Games revealed the fact that though they are actively trying their best to keep the cheaters at a minimum they are proactively looking at other sources as well to end cheats being used in the first place.
The key points of the post were:
- We are reaching out and working directly with experts, both within and outside of EA, in this area that we can learn from.
- Scaling up our anti-cheat team so we have more dedicated resources.
- We are adding a report feature on PC to report cheaters in game that goes directly to Easy-Anti-Cheat.
By the state of this post, it is clearly visible that PC was the most affected platform and that the most requested feature of reporting players in-game has been implemented.
It won’t be long before we see the same features making their way to other consoles where players can actively report cheaters within the game itself and this will only serve to help Respawn game in their mission to stop cheaters from ruining this fun game.
The Reddit post further added about spamming, the game crashes and other issues still lingering in the game.
