Resin is a valuable resource block introduced in update 1.21.4+ and it’s primarily found within the Pale Garden biome. You have to deal with a hostile mob in order to farm it, so here’s how you can obtain Resin Clumps and use them for crafting in-game.
Getting Resin in Minecraft
To obtain Resin Clumps, visit the Pale Garden which is a unique forest biome characterized by its distinctive visual and the presence of the Creaking mob at night or during thunderstorms. Explore your world and pay attention to the changes in the flora and terrain that indicate its presence. You’ll see Pale Oak trees, and Pale Hanging Moss around you — once you’re there, proceed with caution due to the hostile creatures in the area.
Within the Pale Garden, you’ll encounter the Creaking, a mob that will help you obtain resin. The Creaking is invulnerable to weapons, so you need to try something different. To engage with it, find a Creaking Heart within a Pale Oak tree. Destroying this heart will cause the Creaking to despawn and you will receive Resin Clumps.
An interesting thing about the Creaking is that it will only move or attack when the player isn’t looking at it. At the right moment, take a swing. This will reveal a line of orange particles going to a particular tree.
Go there, hit it with your weapon and you will find a Creaking Heart. As mentioned before, when you destroy it, the Creaking will disappear.
Make sure to collect all the Resin Clumps in the tree — using the Fortune III enchantment will help you obtain more (up to 6) drops as opposed to the normal 1-3 drops.
There will be a 5-second cooldown after which you can hit a Creaking and generate more Resin Clumps again to farm them. You can also destroy a Creaking Heart with an explosion and you can attack the Creaking with a Wolf you own as well.
While this is the most reliable method, you can also explore the world and obtain Resin from chests in Woodland Mansions.
Crafting with Resin (Uses)
Resin serves as crafting material for a few creations. 9 resin clumps can be combined to create a Block of Resin. Additionally, when Resin Clump is smelted with any fuel like Coal in a Furnace, you get Resin Bricks.
3 Resin Bricks can craft Resin Brick Slabs, and 2 Resin Brick Slabs can craft Chiseled Resin Bricks. When you craft with 2x Pale Oak Logs and a Block of Resin, you can craft a Creaking Heart.
