If you’ve jumped back to Diablo 4 after a gap or trying it out for the first time during Season 6 Season of the Hatred Rising, you may have seen a giant, demonic creature walking about Sanctuary. Realmwalkers are a significant addition, offering players a new and exciting challenge. Their mechanic and rewards are unique and if you love world bosses and legion events, you are going to love this too.
This is an intimidating enemy that is immune to attacks at first, and the key to taking it down is to defeat the Bloodbound Guardians around it. Here’s everything you need to know about Realmwalkers in Diablo 4, and what are the rewards for completing this task.
What are Realmwalkers in Diablo 4?
The Realmwalkers are monsters that are summoned to Sanctuary (during the Hatred Rising event) by Mephisto’s hatred, and so, are tough to beat with fewer players. While you can’t attack a Realmwalker at first, when you keep defeating the Bloodbound Guardians that spawn near it for protection, eventually the main boss will be vulnerable to attacks. Similar to a World Boss, you need multiple players with difficulty-appropriate levels and builds to be able to defeat it.
After moving for a period, Realmwalkers will reach a ritual site. Here, they form three Hatred Spires that must be destroyed quickly to stop them from gaining power. But the job isn’t done yet!
Defeating a Realmwalker opens a portal to the Seething Realm, a special dungeon where you can battle through enemies and earn powerful Seething Opal Elixirs. These are powerful consumables that provide a boost to experience gain and other bonuses.
There are different types of Seething Opals – Equipment, Gold, Materials, Socketables (only for Vessel of Hatred owners), and Torment – each with its own boost.
For example, with the Seething Opal of Equipment, enemies drop additional Equipment, kills collect Reputation with the Zakarum Remnants, and you get 15% increased Experience for the next 30 minutes. And with the Seething Opal of Torment, enemies drop more Artificer’s Stones and may drop Boss Summoning Items or Infernal Compasses, kills collect Reputation with the Zakarum Remnants, and you get 15% increased Experience for the next 30 minutes. Due to these bonuses, it’s definitely worth playing the Realmwalker events in Diablo 4.
As mentioned before, when you defeat the Realmwalker, a red portal will appear and you must enter it. Here, you will face various monsters and collect items. When you proceed and reach the Realm Gate, it will ask for some items (like Sigil Powder) to open the portal. Then, you need to select the Seething Opal type you want to get as a reward for completing the Seething Realm Dungeon.
In terms of strategies — if your build has enough offensive and defensive elements and your gear is the best you can use then beating this monster shouldn’t be too tough. Use abilities that allow you to quickly move around the battlefield and dodge incoming attacks. Ensure you have sufficient healing capabilities to tank some damage. If your build can take down the Bloodbound Guardians in a jiffy, this event will be a cakewalk for you and other players around you.
At the end of the Seething Realm, you will come across a Resplendent Chest event after which you can get your drops!
How Often Does the Realmwalker Spawn?
The Realmwalker will spawn in a region on the map every 15 minutes and the location will keep changing every schedule. Plus, for the DLC players, one more Realmwalker will show up in the Nahantu every hour.
That was all about this boss! If you want to know how to unlock the higher Torment difficulties in Diablo 4, our guide will come in handy.
