There are several material pieces and resources that you will need when playing MHR: Sunbreak. These are used to craft weapons, armor, and more of your choice. However, getting some of these materials can prove to be a task to get. As it involves harvesting the resources that you need by breaking monster limbs, capturing the beasts in the wild, and killing them. One of the most difficult resources to get happens to be the Rathalos Mantle. This material is desired by all but can only be captured by a few. In this guide, we will show you how to get the rare Rathalos Mantle from a Rathalos monster in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak (MHR).
What is the Best Way to Get a Rathalos Mantle in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
If you want to get a Rathalos Mantle in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, then you will have to take on an MR (Master Rank) quest. This quest is called the King of the Crumbling Castle and can be quite difficult to complete.
If you want help on your way to get the Rathalos Mantle then accept the Support Survey. And take on the Operation Purple Fire quest instead. Here, you will have to kill a Magnamalo as well which can be a lot of work to do. This is more of a workaround quest that will eventually get you to where you want to go but is quite a lot on its own. And so, we recommend going to do the King of the Crumbling Castle quest instead of the Operation Purple Fire quest.
As you fight the monster, you must keep an eye for a blue icon on the top right corner of your screen. It will be right under the picture of Rathalos. This will show that the monster is weak and you can now capture it. Your Palico will also mention that the monster is weak when the time comes.
What Equipment Do You Need When Getting the Rathalos Mantle?
As you don’t want to kill the monster, you will need to take the following items with you:
- A Pitfall Trap
- A Shock Trap
- Eight Tranq Bombs
Take Thunder or Dragon weapons as well to make it easier to cut but not kill the monster.
What Are the Rathalos Mantle Drop Percentages in MHR Sunbreak?
Unfortunately, the Rathalos Mantle is the rarest of the materials that are dropped from a Rathalos in the game. And so, there’s going to be a lot of grinding that needs to be done before you can get the fruits of your labor.
To increase your chances of getting a Rathalos Mantle, you can try your luck by breaking the wings, head and back of the Rathalos. Each will give you a 3% chance of getting a Rathalos Mantle. By cutting the tail off in the fight, you will have gotten an additional chance of getting a Rathalos Mantle as well.
If you don’t manage to capture the Rathalos then you might as well kill it for that 3% chance of getting a mantle. This is a time-consuming way of getting a Rathalos Mantle and is ill-advised.
You can also increase your chances of finding a Rathalos by 1% through the Wyvern Ride. This will add monsters on the map that will attack the Rathalos for you. This will cause white drops to appear. You can now loot it in hopes of finding a Rathalos mantle yourself.
