Many players who pre-ordered an Xbox Series X & PS5 won’t get the console delivered at launch, as Amazon is initially warning of a delay. But also in the case of the PS5, comparable emails came into circulation.
This week the launch of the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 will take place in the USA. While the new console from Microsoft is even conquering the global market today, it will be the turn of the PS5 in the United States on November 12, 2020. But it seems that not all pre-orderers can get their copy in their hands-on time.
For example, e-mails from Amazon are currently roaming the Internet stating that there could be a delay of PS5 & Xbox Series X consoles until December. The new consoles may not be shipped until the next few weeks. The mails seem to primarily address Xbox Series X pre-orders.
“We’re contacting you with an update regarding your order of Xbox Series X. We expect to ship your console in the coming weeks as we receive more inventory in November and December. At this time, we anticipate that you will receive your Xbox Series X by 12/31 or before,” said Amazon in the circular.
Some of the affected customers report that they placed their order quickly after the pre-sale started. So far it is not clear whether the shipping giant could also delay deliveries of the PS5 into December.
But Amazon warned customers in advance that a delay cannot be ruled out with Sony’s next-gen consoles. Walmart, on the other hand, reportedly warned of a delay in PS5 shipments this week, according to social media.

Of course, such emails do not necessarily mean that the addressed customers will actually only receive their console after the day of publication. Rather, the companies seem to merely point out the possibility of late delivery.
