War Thunder: How To Play With Friends (Squad Guide)

The joy of playing War Thunder is enhanced if you play with friends, but many players don’t know how to add them. The user interface of this game can be confusing if you’re new to the game. Moreover, the game does not tell you how to add new friends. However, teaming up with experienced players can help you rise through the ranks faster. So to help you out, this guide will tell you the two ways you can play in a squad in War Thunder.

War Thunder: How to Play with Friends

War Thunder allows you to create or join a squad consisting of four players. In the case of special Squadron events, the total number goes up to eight. It also has a cross-play feature. Meaning, players using various platforms like PlayStation, PC, and more can play together. You can use the following two ways to play with your friends in War Thunder:

• Joining a Squad
• Hosting a Squad

Joining a Squad

Before you join a squad, make sure you have players on your friend list. If you’re new to the game, then here’s how to add friends and join their squad:

1. Open your Main Menu.
2. Click on the ‘Friends Online’ button on the bottom right corner of the screen.
3. Search for your friend’s ID.
4. Right-click on their ID and add them to your friend list.
5. You can also add new friends from the ‘Fought Together’ tab.
6. Once you’ve added players, ask them to create a squad and wait for the invitation.
7. Accept the invitation and hit the ‘Ready’ button.
8. Once everyone in the squad is ready, the host will start the battle.

Note that everyone on the squad should have planes with similar battle ratings.

Hosting a Squad

Apart from joining the squad, you can also host one as a commander. To do so:

1. Go to the Main Menu and click on the ‘Friends Online’ option.
2. Right-click on an online friend’s profile and select the ‘Invite to Squad’ option.
3. As we mentioned, you can invite up to three friends to form a four-man squad.
4. Similarly, in the case of a Squadron event, you can invite up to seven friends to an eight-man squad.

Apart from adding friends, you can also invite friends who don’t play War Thunder. All you have to do is get an invite link and send it to your friends. If they join via your link, both of you will receive rewards like Silver Lions, Golden Eagles, and more.
