To Play online multiplayer you will have to select the Online mode from the main menu. This will take you on a screen where you can either invite your friends or allow anyone to join your game. Hit the Triangle button to invite friends and wait for them, hit square to start random matchmaking, and then finally hit X when your team is ready to begin the game.

To access the local multiplayer, select “Play” from the main menu, and then choose from the two modes available. One of the modes is the standard adventure mode, which is the true local multiplayer as it can be played only with humans. The other mode is the competitive arena mode, which can be played with humans as well as bots.
