Atreus possesses a different set of skills compared to Kratos and you will enjoy certain adventures playing as him. While he is not the same hacking and slashing character as his father, there is some likeness to how you can play his skill set. However, the nature of him as a playable character is different than most would expect. In this guide, we will show you exactly how you can play as Atreus. So let’s check out this guide and get a run with the young Loki.

How to Play as Atreus in God of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok Play as Atreus

While in the story, Atreus will have numerous solo adventures without Kratos and some with assistance from other characters. With Atreus, you will be able to explore certain parts and complete other side content. However, this is the limit of Atreus as a playable character.

While you can play as Atreus in God of War Ragnarok, you cannot choose between Kratos and Atreus. When the God of War is present, you will be playing from the perspective of Kratos. The only gameplay moments that you can get for Atreus is the solo adventures. We won’t be spoiling the reasons why Atreus heads out alone, one of them is to meet a certain character after discovering the Shores of Nine region during the Path named “Old Friends”. For the fans who wanted to play as Atreus for a bigger chunk of the game, there’s a long quest you get to do after meeting Angrboda.

Maybe one of the future games in the franchise will develop more moments of playing as Atreus. However, this is what players can get for Ragnarok.

When with the Kratos, Atreus will play the same role in God of War Ragnarok as he did in the previous game. That is he will provide support with his bow and arrow and solve the puzzles in the game.

That’s all there is on how to play as Atreus in God of War Ragnarok. While you are here, make sure you check out our GoW Wiki for more Ragnarok guides with Gamer Tweak.
