Many players in New World are struggling with locating resources and other items, due to the lack of a mini map. Even though Amazon Games has not officially released minimap for the game, an unofficial addon mod is available for players to get this functionality in their game. We came across this addon mod on Reddit so we would share our views also on this. So let’s look at what exactly Overwolf New World Minimap Addon Mod is and how to download this mini map function.
What Is Overwolf New World Minimap Addon Mod?
Overwolf New World Minimap Addon Mod is mini map function for the game created by Reddit user u/morbrid and his friends. He posted a video showing the functioning map with all important icons and locations. Morbid has uploaded the map to Overwolf for everyone to download and use it. According to the addon mod description, the mini map also shows ores, herbs, essences, chests including the map data from newworld-map. The mini map add-on will also show you all the crafting stations and other points of interest. More features and functions will be coming to this in the future, as per the description on the Overwolf website.

Is the Overwolf New World Minimap Mod Bannable?
Edit #1: According to Lane from New World Developers team, getting this mini-map will not ban you from the game. Read more about this in the forum here.
The answer can be either Yes or No. Because as of now we have not received any kind of confirmation from Amazon Games stating that this addon is not considered modding. But according to Amazon Games restrictions as quoted by u/LymeM “…or mods that are not expressly permitted by us in an applicable policy posted on our website” “or use other software or services that give you an unfair advantage”. Then Reddit user u/morbrid commented “I will definitely look into this and try to get some more clarification. It does seem a bit of a grey area – because the information is available on a website already, it may be argued that it isn’t unfair. Otherwise, if it is deemed unfair then that website might be against ToS as well.”
Also on the bright side, u/morbrid also replied to another comment that “Thanks! The minimap runs on Overwolf, and it’s the only process that runs. I believe Overwolf is whitelisted on the anti-cheat so I’d say it’s unlikely to get you banned. I understand minimaps are a bit of grey area at the moment so if AGS does issue a statement saying they’re not allowed I’ll remove the app or tweak it so it meets their TOS, rather than risk users getting banned.” So as per u/morbrid Overwolf is anti-cheat whitelisted, then there should not be any problems for players. But to be safe side, we suggest you wait till further confirmation on this topic from Amazon Games. We don’t want anyone to get any kind of ban (not later in the future for this), so please use this addon in caution, or kindly wait till we hear “okay” the devs.
What to Do Meanwhile in the New World?
Well if you are not planning to get the unofficial mini map addon, we would like to share some comments from other users (who all seek a solution to this) in the same Reddit thread. Reddit user u/tirnuel says “It’s annoying that the map doesn’t auto-zoom in while in town”. u/eniLk_ adds “I agree but there is an auto center icon you can click once zoomed in and it’ll move the map to your current position. Kinda like GPS apps on your cell”. u/coolfangs adds “Don’t forget the zoom in, realize you zoomed in to the completely wrong part and have no idea where your map is, zoom back out so you can zoom in to the part you initially wanted to zoom in on.” u/Aoitara commented, “If you zoom in to a random part of the map, you can exit and re-open the map and it will be zoomed in and centered on you”. u/Saintphoenix1986 says “You know the map zooms to your mouse yeah, not just to the center”. For which u/Ailly84 added, “This is an actually helpful tip. Thank you. Never thought of the map preserving its zoom level.”
