4K gaming is still limited to those who can shed ultra-cash for extreme hardware, while ample of gamers are happy at 1440p or max 1080p if you have that size display. I prefer to go with 1440p at-least to have complete gaming experience. Not taking 4K as my primary need, 1440p is where many will love to settle down. At such resolution having crisp and immersive graphics is always my priority and that is possible only if you have something like Nvidia GEFORCE RTX 2070 Super, thankfully I got a chance to test this card and I am really impressed with its output. My testings are based on high-end game systems not mid-range or entry-level because Nvidia GEFORCE RTX 2070 SUPER Founders Edition falls in the top categories of cards. There are few close competitors in the market, the reason to recommend Nvidia GEFORCE RTX 2070 SUPER Founders Edition lies with its power to handle 4K. In the future, if you plan to upgrade to bigger display for 4K experience then RTX 2070 Super FE will be a clever choice.
Considering different variants in RTX series by Nvidia, RTX 2070 Super falls in the perfect range between 2080 and 2060 in terms of price, and performance. If you are thinking to buy RTX 2060, do have a look at RTX 2070 Super once. With a short bump in price, it offers more memory bandwidth which is very important for certain games. Why go with 6GB if you can afford 8GB with a slight increase in price?
Design:
Nvidia RTX 2070 SUPER Founders Edition is shipped in a huge box with a manual and DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter. With an exceptional build, RTX 2070 SUPER FE is a heavy card with Aluminum covering and two fans on the top. Holding it in hand feels incredible, Geforce GTX marked in the front center has a green back-lit led light. It glows when the card is active, an 8pin + 6pin ports sits on the left corner. RTX 2070 SUPER FE is a handsome card, the design is striking, but the size is big. Placing it inside a mid-tower chassis is tough, however, we tried and was successful after moving the hard driveway. Still, it is recommended to use a full-tower chassis with minimum 750w power supply if you are not having a liquid cooler.
Nvidia RTX 2070 SUPER FE can perform on 650w PSU, but having a higher one is always best. A high-end gaming system like the one we have has a Core i5-8400 + 32GB DDR6 RAM, liquid cooler, 240GB SSD + 1TB HDD and Gigabyte gaming series motherboard. We are using a 1000w PSU on this and never faced any issue while drawing out max performance from RTX 2070 SUPER FE, we also ran a gaming test on Ryzen 5 2600 system with 16GB RAM, stock CPU cooler, 1TB Hard Drive and 650w corsair PSU. It worked well but we had found certain issues with high resolution, games like Call of Duty Blacks Ops 4 stuttered on dual-screen setup. Definitely, this is due to power, the same game performed smoothly on a single monitor at native resolution. Minimum power requirement for Nvidia RTX 2070 SUPER FE is 175w and recommended is 550w. So best to go with max to avoid performance issues.
Nvidia RTX 2070 SUPER Founders Edition has three Display ports, a single HDMI port, and USB Type-C connector. By default, the card supports 4 Monitor setup. You can get 7680×4320 of max resolution on it, only with a comparative high-end config to avoid the bottleneck.
Performance:
Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070 Super FE is an ultimate mid-level card between 2080 and 2060 if you do not want to compromise with performance. It is capable of giving you RTX 2080 level performance if you are not expecting pure 4K results. Geforce RTX 2070 Super fits perfectly as a great performance card in the range of affordable range of expensive product line. It is wrong to say it is an ideal card under budget, but it is worth investing if you need something amazing. Geforce RTX 2070 Super Founders Edition is not meant for budget gaming PC, you need everything high-end or else it will bottleneck the entire system. Our test on Ryzen 5 and Core i5-8400 was amazing, with 16/32GB RAM, an SSD hard drive and 1000w PSU helped us to pull out the complete juice of RTX 2070 Super FE. This 8GB GDDR6 variant comes with 256-bit Memory Interface Width and 448 GB/s of Memory Bandwidth is pure performance.
We haven’t got chance to test many games because we had RTX 2070 Super FE for a couple of weeks, so we pulled a few gaming tests followed by 3D Mark test and compared it directly with Radeon 7 graphic card. In 3DMark Time Spy regular and extreme test RTX 2070 Super FE scored better scores compared to Radeon 7. In 3DMark Fire Strike regular and extreme test RTX 2070 Super FE scored fell short of few thousand points, while Radeon 7 performed best in 3D Mark Fire Strike Ultra.
Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070 Super FE delivered some serious score on 4K optimized test, almost near to 2080 FE, it stands very near to the score of the top variant. While Radeon 7 was defeated at a close margin. This shows RTX 2070 Super FE is an amazing choice for 4K needs, so instead of putting a lot of money on RTX 2080 FE, RTX 2070 Super FE can deliver you similar performance at a lower price.
RTX 2070 Super FE competed well at 1080p, 1440p and 4K on games like Metro: Last Light Redux and Shadow of Tomb Raider. We ran various test really fast to find out where RTX 2070 Super FE can really perform on various resolution levels. Radeon 7 and RTX 2070 Super FE are two cards that can race side by side, it is not wrong to say that both cards can beat each other or they are identical in output, at a very tiny margin Radeon 7 outperforms RTX 2070 Super FE, which is almost insignificant.
Our test results prove RTX 2070 Super FE is an outstanding graphic card. RX Vega 64 is another card that can reach near RTX 2070 Super FE performance, but not exactly. It is an ideal budget card compared to RTX 2070 Super FE which is a very powerful card. Something that fits well for some overclocking and stable performance without shouting fans. Nvidia also has RTX 2060 Founders Edition variant, but why not to go for more video memory, although the tech is similar RTX 2070 Super FE is capable of fulfilling your 4K requirements.

Verdict:
Nvidia launched RTX 2070 Super with RTX 2060, to some extent the card is a direct competitor to AMD’s RX 5700 & RX 5700 XT, both features 8GB GDDR6 memory bandwidth along with proprietary technology to deliver the best quality gaming. RX 5700 XT is $100 cheaper compared to RTX 2070 Super FE that falls at $499. What you do not get in AMD is Ray Tracing, stable overclocking and Tensor cores. RTX 2070 Super FE is a solid candidate for performance compared to AMD’s version, but if you have a tight budget that cannot exceed $100 then RX 5700 XT is not a bad replacement, but with some sacrifice.
For buyers in India, at a base price of Rs.43,600, you are a high-performance card capable enough to handle years of gaming requirements. Turing architecture, 6X more performance, Real-Time Raytracing, and AI-enhanced graphics makes RTX 2070 Super and complete gaming card. Though I had mentioned we had cheaper 8GB GDDR6 alternatives in a price range of Rs.31,000 to Rs.40,000, you will miss the 4K and overclocking stability with Nvidia’s proprietary technology to get the ultimate gaming experience.
You can expect a great 1440p output and we will recommend RTX 2070 Super FE as a future proof investment.
