As the name suggests, the Multiclass feature allows you to build a character with more than one Class in Baldur’s Gate 3. This is a good way to get access to a diverse variety of moves. Some character Classes have synergies between them. Such a pair of Classes when brought together gives us a devastating combo. Selecting any one Class among 12 is tough and that’s when the Multiclass feature will help you out in BG3. Sounds intriguing right? Take a look below to get started with a fusion of Classes.
How to Multiclass in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)
Here’s how you can take different Classes and combine them into one character build through Multiclassing in Baldur’s Gate 3.
- While on the Character Level up tab, click on the cross axe icon on the top-right.
- Now select the Class that you want outside of your existing Class. Doing so will allow you to level up in the selected Class.
- Once you are done, your character will receive respective Equipment, Proficiencies, and Skills, if any.
Since Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) follows the system of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, the Multiclassing feature here is a bit different. In D&D, you need to gain certain Ability Points of the respective Classes to start Multiclassing. However, that restriction is ruled out in this game. So players are free to Multiclass once their character reaches level 2.
Should you Multiclass a Character in BG3?
Multiclassing opens the gate for endless possibilities for your character build. In case you have opted to level up in another Class, you won’t level up in your existing Class. This would mean that you won’t be able to get new features for your earlier selected Class. In this game, there’s a level cap of 12 and accordingly, you can distribute these points among different Classes.
To look up on the positive side, if you manage to create a balanced build for any 2, 3, 4, or any amount of Classes, you’ll be an unstoppable force. Moreover, you will be able to select responses of any other Class if you have done Multiclassing in BG3.
I have put forward both sides of the coin in front of you. The answer to the question, of whether you should or should not Multiclass in Baldur’s Gate 3 depends on your preference. But if you ask about my opinion, then I would suggest you to look out for Classes that have synergies between them. Combining such Classes in one character is a good deal to go with.
