One guaranteed Mothman Location in Fallout 76 is after completing The Path to Enlightenment event in Landview Lighthouse. At the end of this public event, after exiting the lighthouse, you will find a Wise Mothman. Interacting with it will give you a 5% XP boost for the next hour. The Wise Mothman is friendly so you won’t have to be scared of him. If you don’t want to spend your time completing the event, then you will have to spend some time looking for Mothman.

First things first, the Mothman has a random spawn location in the game which is why it is so difficult to find. To increase your odds, here are some of the locations that have a high probability of spawning the Mothman:

  • Church in Kanawha County Cemetery
  • Enclave Research Facility (Scorched Mothman)
  • Outside Lucky Hole Mine

Keep in mind that Mothmen only spawn at night so don’t go about looking for them during the day. Moreover, you should also know that there are several types of Mothmen who can attack you as well:

Types of Mothmen

There are a total of 5 different Mothmen that you will be able to find in Fallout 76:

  1. Vengeful Mothman
  2. Stalking Mothman
  3. Wise Mothman
  4. Glowing Mothman
  5. Scorched Mothman

All of these Mothmen have the same attacks. Apart from the Wise Mothman, everybody else is hostile and will always be aggressive from the get-go. Their eyes are a good indicator of this. A Mothman with red eyes will be downright aggressive while the one with yellow eyes will be a little wary of you. However, the purple eye Mothman will be passive and friendly with you.
