Even though you need this machine to craft your Fabric, you will still require a Spinning Wheel. The Loom will only craft the Fabric for you if you have either the Silk Thread or the Wool Thread.
In order to make this Thread, you will have to build the Spinning Wheel, for which you will require 8 Planks, 5 Wooden Rod, 5 Wood, and 5 Wolf Claw. Once this device is ready, you can get Silk and Wool and convert them into Threads.

- Silk – You can get Silk after you defeat Spiders. These creatures are spread all across the map, so make sure you destroy as many as you can, whenever you come across any Spiders.
- Wool – You can get this raw material by petting as many Sheep as you can. You will mostly find them scattered around the Grasslands Biome. Once you gently pet them, they will drop the Wool.
