The answer is yes, you can make money by creating maps and other experiences on the UEFN. However, the amount you earn will depend on a few factors. Along with that, you will have to make sure that you fall in the Eligibility Criteria. Epic will place about 40% of the net revenue from Fortnite’s Item Shop and related real-money purchases into the engagement pool. From this pool, they will initiate the payments related to the UEFN.

Creator Economy 2.0 Engagement Money Criteria

As we said, the money will be attributed under certain conditions. The main factors that influence the money one can make from UEFN are:

  • Player Popularity – Islands that attract new players and re-engage old players to Fortnite contribute to this calculation. This is identified as an experience that players love.
  • Player Retention – Islands where players return day-to-day and week-to-week will also contribute to this calculation.

Who is Eligible to Make Money from UEFN?

At the time of writing, legal entities like companies, and island creators 18 years or older are eligible to be part of the Engagement pool. Epic Games has confirmed that they will lower the age criteria and hence allow more creators to be part of this pool.

How the Engagement Payout Pool for UEFN is Calculated

Now, you might be wondering how the 40% revenue pool will be calculated. It will involve the revenue from the following:

  • Real Money Spent on Fortnite
  • Purchase of V-Bucks
  • Real money transactions (Starter Packs, Quest Packs, cosmetics)
