Which Episode Does Luffy Use Gear 2?
Luffy uses Gear 2 against CP9’s agent Blueno in the 272nd Episode of the One Piece anime. The episode adapts the 387th Chapter of Eichiro Oda’s manga and is a part of the Enies Lobby Arc. It is titled “Luffy is in Sight! Gather at the Courthouse Plaza”. With all the ruckus going on in Enies Lobby to free Robin from the clutches of CP9, Luffy is back up again and picks up his fight with Blueno.
The CP9’s agent is surprised by the amount of strength Luffy has garnered over time since their previous fight. Amidst the fight, we see Luffy’s strong desire to protect his friends at any cost. This is the moment when Gear 2 is introduced in the anime and manga.
With Gear 2, all of Luffy’s techniques and combat skills take a step further and are even stronger than before. This new technique increases Luffy’s strength and overall speed at which he attacks his opponent. All of it while pumping his blood quickly throughout his own body.
The technique takes Blueno by surprise as he faces all the attacks he did before, just this time way stronger. This transformation inevitably marks Luffy as one of the greatest MCs out there in anime.
