Gauntlet of Shar found within the Grand Mausoleum requires you and your party to go through three different trials in order to reach the end of the dungeon. Since Shadowheart is the most loyal follower of Shar, the deity of darkness, and considering that every choice has much bigger consequences in the D&D universe, you might wonder if it’s in your best interest to take Shadowheart with you and let her do the trials.
And if you have spent hours romancing the loyal cleric, then you might want to progress her questline with caution. Additionally, the Sharran herself would want to investigate the Gauntlet of Shar further in BG3. So if you are wondering whether you should take her with you to the gauntlet and let her complete those trials, then here is everything you need to know about it.
Should You Let Shadowheart Do the Gauntlet of Shar Trials in BG3?
Yes, we would recommend you take Shadowheart to Gauntlet of Shar and let her do the trials in BG3. There are no immediate consequences to this choice; on the flip side, you can complete those trials easily.
Since she is loyal Sharran herself, she knows her way through all three trials in the game. You can collect those Umbral Gems quickly if you let Shadowheart take the reins in the Gauntlet of Shar. Players can make use of her Radiant Spells whenever necessary while completing the trials in the game.
Once the loyal cleric recognizes the trials inside the dungeon, she will ask you to let her do them instead of you. Players can then switch with Shadowheart and let her take over the trials in BG3. This decision will also help you strengthen your relationship with the Sharran as she will approve of your choice.
With that being said, additionally, you will also progress further in the Daughter of Darkness questline in Baldur’s Gate 3. And once Shadowheart has completed all of Shar’s trials, you will eventually find the Spear of Night and ultimately stumble upon Balthazar further inside the dungeon. After facing him, you will get to interact with Nightsong where you will need to either let Shadowheart kill or spare her.
While the decision is ultimately on you in Baldur’s Gate 3, if you are looking to make forward progress on your relationship with Shadowheart, sparing Nightsong in Gauntlet of Shar will help you do just that. It is worth mentioning that you will need to pass the DC 21 Charisma check to successfully convince her to spare Nightsong. This also prevents Shadowheart from becoming one of Shar’s chosen which can be deemed a much more darker path in Baldur’s Gate 3.
