Call of Duty Black Ops 3 features Zombies mode which offers a wide range of different locations in different timelines. Aside from dealing with the hordes of zombies, you will also obtain different elemental staff. One of these includes the Staff of Ice or the Ice Staff. Once you have built this weapon, you can upgrade it to Ull’s arrow which functions the same. However, this upgrade offers more range and a wider area of effect (AOE). What is the Ice Staff Upgrade Code in COD Black Ops 3 Zombies Chronicles
You have to solve three puzzles, riddles, or tasks to upgrade the Ice Staff in the COD Zombies mode. For the first one, head to the Crazy Place located around the Icy region. As you reach there, you will find six panels of rocks and ice floating above a Portal. You will also see huge pillars of walls with a series of Dots imprinted on them. You have to shoot the rock or stone panel in the correct order by decoding the dots on the pillar. Upon shooting the stone panels in the correct order, it will flip the floating stones.
As this upgrade code is RNG and changes in every game, you have to decipher the symbols on the pillar. Note that you need to flip all six stone panels to complete this riddle. So, here’s what the symbols on the pillar represent:
Now, head over to the Original Realm to complete another riddle. You have to shoot and freeze three gravestones with water floating out of them. Then, destroy them with another weapon to complete this riddle. But the tricky part is that these gravestones are placed in different locations. So, here are the locations of each of these gravestones or tombstones:
- To the right of the KN-44 close to Generator 4.
- Nearby Generator 4 between the Excavation site and a Giant Footprint.
- Next to the giant Downed Mech’s Hand near Generator 2.

For the next part, head over to the lower levels of the Excavation Site where you will find four floating rings. You have to pull the lever to rotate these rings in the correct order and turn them blue. You can find two levers by the wooden scaffolds and two on the normal walkway inside the lower levels. Once all rings turn blue, they will shoot blue orbs in the air. You have to shoot these four blue orbs with the Ice Staff.
Lastly, players have to place the Staff on the Blue pedestal in the Crazy Place. You have to kill approximately 20-25 Zombies to collect their souls and charge the staff. Once you have eliminated these zombies, head over to Samantha. As you interact with her, she will state that the “power of ice is available“. You will see that the blue icon indicating Ice staff has a red outline. You can head back to the Blue pedestal and pick up the upgraded Ice Staff or Ull’s Arrow.
