The first thing you need to have to heal yourself in the Age of Calamity is food. After eating food, press and hold the L button on the controller, and a four-direction button prompt will appear, press the button with the photos of the apple icon next to it. Doing this will increase your stamina but reduce the amount of food you have stored.
In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, whenever you kill enemies you are most likely to get foods including Apples. Once you pick up the item, the item will automatically be added to your inventory. If you are unable to pick up apples on the battlefield, this might be happening because you have no room left for apples and your health is full. After taking the damage, you can go back there and retrieve the apple to get full stock once again.
