Have some cookbooks in your inventory but don't know how to use them? Here's all you need to know.
If you’ve picked up one of these key items in the game, the next question on your mind is – what do you do with Cookbooks in Elden Ring? Well, it will help you to craft items. You will need a Crafting Kit and you can buy it from Merchant Kalé at the Church of Elleh. Once you do that, you will be able to mix materials to craft new items using the recipes you have unlocked. To take things up a notch, you will use Cookbooks – here’s how.
Cookbooks are basically used to make the most of the Crafting Kit and will help you unlock new crafting recipes. If you need some ammo or consumables based on the situation and location you are in, cookbooks along with crafting materials will come to your rescue and are crucial for your progress.
Whenever you encounter a merchant, make sure to check if they are selling any cookbooks and if they do, purchase them for Runes. Apart from that, you can explore the vast regions and loot corpses and chests to get them without spending your hard-earned Runes. They can also sometimes be obtained via enemy/boss drops or they can be given to you by an NPC.
You will need a particular Cookbook to unlock a recipe to craft an item. Once you have it, you can go ahead and search for the materials needed or combine them, if you already have them. Here are a few examples:
Nomadic Warrior’s Cookbook 1 has 3 Recipes for Bone Arrow, Bone Arrow (Fletched) and Bone Bolt.
Bone Arrow x10

And so on. Here’s the location of all cookbooks (there are lots of them) that will guide you in your crafting journey and here are all the recipes for consumables in the game.
That’s all there is to it! This is how to use cookbooks in your Elden Ring and the best part is that they are kept with your character when you complete the game and go to NG+. For more on Elden Ring, check out our category on Gamer Tweak.
