ARK: Survival Evolved – How To Remove Leech

Here is your guide to removing leeches in ARK: Survival Evolved.

In real life and in ARK, dealing with leeches can be a pain. The leeches in ARK are creatures that are found in shallow water. As you walk by, these giant leeches will attach to you. This will obscure your screen as you try to play and try to ignore them. If you don’t have armor then they can also be quite dangerous as they are bloodsuckers. And so, in this guide, we will show you how to remove one leech or even more leeches from anyone in ARK: Survival Evolved.

Leeches in ARK: How to Locate and Remove

ARK Survival Evolved How To Remove Leech

Here is how you can locate and remove the leech stuck on you, your tamed creatures, or other players in ARK: Survival Evolved.

How to Remove Leeches

There are two ways to remove leeches in the game.

If you play ARK multiplayer then you can easily remove the leech off someone else by interacting with them. Press E and select ‘remove leech’ from the menu. You can use this method to remove leeches from your tamed creatures as well.

If you play solo, however, this will be difficult to do. You will need to jump into a fire for a few seconds. This will cause damage to the leech and soon, it will get off of you as it dies. To use this method, simply use the fire from a cooking pot or campfire.

How to Locate Leeches in ARK: Survival Evolved

You will find leeches in a ton of water bodies. While the ocean and beach shore are obvious places to find leeches, you must also keep away from the banks of the following:

  • Rivers
  • Streams
  • Swamp areas

You are not the only target for these creatures. You will also need to watch out for them attacking your tamed creatures as well.

What Effects do Leeches in ARK: Survival Evolved have on Players?

When attached, yours and the leech’s health plus stamina will steadily go down. If your leech is diseased then it will be red in color. This leech can transmit Swamp Fever in the game. This can be fatal as it can lead to the following effects:

20% reduction:

  • Weight Limit
  • Melee Damage
  • Health
  • Stamina

20% increase:

  • Speed

50% increased consumption of:

  • Food
  • Water
  • Oxygen

To cure Swamp Fever, a lesser antidote or nameless venom is needed to be used. For those playing the DLC, you can even sleep in the Tek Sleeping Pod to cure this fever as well.
