Keeping your people healthy is a priority in Frostpunk 2 and if there’s Disease spreading, it becomes a foundation for worse problems that can lead to total chaos. In this guide, we will take a look at what you can do to reduce Disease (indicated by the Syringe icon) for the survival of your city in the post-apocalyptic world.
What Causes Disease in Frostpunk 2?
Your citizens are living in a cruel cold world, and if there’s not enough Heat, they will fall sick. So, focus on having consistent heat generation through various ways.
Similar to Cold, Hunger and Squalor will also lead to Disease, and so will having unsafe working conditions, too many factories, and not having ways to treat diseases in the form of buildings and laws are some of the causes. If you don’t work on decreasing the Disease levels, it will contribute to increased Tensions.
How to Reduce Disease
On the game’s main screen, you will see the exact reason why Disease is slightly or significantly increasing so you can work on fixing that problem first.
When you go to the Idea Tree (pressing R), and click on the Society tab, you will see the syringe icon under Treatment and Hospitals. This can help you research specific elements that will help you reduce Disease in Frostpunk 2.
First, you need Hospitals. Check the Idea Tree > Society and build Hospitals for your Housing Districts, as well as Pharmaceutical Testing Laboratories for your Industrial Districts.
It’s not all positive though – when you do Experimental Treatment, Disease can marginally decrease, but it can come at the cost of potential casualties. Plus, it can breed resentment among factions, so it’s up to you to decide. However, there’s also an option for Conservative Treatment which can reduce Disease.
Under Hubs, you will see the Emergency Medical Hub which is an agglomeration of modular care units where patients from nearby Districts can be processed quickly. It has a 100 Workforce requirement, 20 Heat Demand, and 25 Materials Demand and has a construction cost, but the Disease in neighboring Housing Districts is decreased due to it.
Your people also need laws to help them fight Disease and that can be done by optimizing working hours of the workforce, preventing Contagion, having Funerals and having a Birthing Programme.
Laws are under 4 trees of Survival, City, Society, and Rule. You should be able to find the ones you need for this particular purpose under Survival, City and Society.
Making sure your citizens have access to food consistently, have heat generation, reduced Heat Demand, production efficiency, and waste management facilities will all combine towards less Disease in Frostpunk 2 and better health of your people.
