Some DPS characters allow for more offensive close combats and have abilities that deal quick but heavy damage. Some examples of these are Tracer, Genji and Reaper. However if you’re someone who prefers ranged combats and have quick reactions, you could opt for Widowmaker as she is a sniper.

Know The Maps in Overwatch 2

As a DPS player, you should try to learn the nooks and crannies of the maps in the map pool. This allows you to get sneaky kills and gives you vantage points on your enemies that would not expect damage coming from sitelines away from your team. DPS are the only players that can have the ability to capture different areas of the map and attack while using your Tanks as a distraction.

High Ground Advantage for DPS

A lot of DPS characters in Overwatch 2 like Hanzo and Genji have some sort of movement ability that lets them reach areas where other Tank players cannot. You should use these abilities, especially ones that let you boost to a higher plane. This gives you an off angle to shoot from that your enemies would find difficult to defend or retaliate to.

Switching DPS Characters

Being a DPS main, you may try to rush into an enemy’s territory to frag out but this also increases your chances of being eliminated the most. If some character is not working out for you, it is recommended to switch things up. OW2 even allows you to keep 30% of Ultimate points upon switching heroes.

Flanking with Damage Heroes

This is one of the most important aspects of any FPS game and it is usually one of the DPS players’ responsibility. Flanking or also known as ‘backstab’ involves sneakily going behind the enemy lines and eliminating their Support players or Flank-watchers. Some characters like Tracer, Pharah and Sombra have great mobility skills and endurance required for a Flanker.
